Union Minister for Commerce addresses at the 5th China-Southeast Asia Business Forum
Union Minister for Commerce, H. E. Mr. Aung Naing Oo, presently in Kunming to participate in the 7th China-South Asia Expo and the 27th China (Kunming) Import / Export Expo hosted in the People's Republic of China, addressed at the 5th China-Southeast Asia Business Forum held at the Wyndham Hotel, at 9:30 local time on 17th August 2023.
At the opening ceremony, Vice Governor of Yunnan Province of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Na Yunde, the Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Center, and the Chairman of the China Chamber of International Commerce addressed the opening speeches respectively.
Union Minister for Commerce addressed that it is crucial to concentrate on fostering international collaboration and cooperation and strongly support the theme of this year's forum "Strengthening the Resilience and Coordination of Regional Industrial Chains to Promote Economic Cooperation and Integration" which emphasizes the importance of collaboration between China and Southeast Asian Nations in building resilient industrial chains and promoting sustainable economic development. As Myanmar has been participating actively in the process of ASEAN Business, China and ASEAN Member States will have a lot of opportunities to expand their trade and investment in diverse areas in Myanmar.
The significant role of the private sector is also recognized as it will be an engine for growth and stability. Additionally, Myanmar will cooperate and collaborate closely with China and Southeast Asia countries in trade, investment, and other sectors. In this connection, it is needed for greater private sector cooperation and collaboration among business communities from China and other ASEAN member countries in order to find out future possibilities and opportunities. In doing so, it is also needed to pay emphasis on the policies and requirements, as well as objectives of each country.
After that, the Chairman of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Aye Win took a role as Chairperson of the 5th China- Southeast Asia Business Forum and discussed the matters related with economic cooperation. The presidents of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Southeast Asia countries and the government representatives of the Yunnan Province also participated in the discussion.
In the afternoon, the Myanmar delegation led by the Union Minister and the Myanmar Ambassador to the People's Republic of China attended the networking luncheon at the Haigeng Garden Hotel hosted by Governor of Yunnan Province of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Wang Yubo.
